About B

Hey everyone. If you wanna know, I reside in the place of sun, silicon and superficiality. Ahhhh, my home sweet home...how I love the! Sarcasm you smell??? Well...perhaps just a bit. But, truthfully, the West is where my heart is. The world itself is a wonderful place if you let it be. That's why I like to say I give my heart to the West, and my soul to the world. Call it what you will. Living to be the best person I can be is my goal in this life. That doesn't necessarily mean being the best though. It's my belief if you do your utmost personal best, giving whatever you go for your without-a-doubt all, and make smart decisions along the way, awesome things can happen and you'll achieve what you set out to do. There can be no excuses. There can be no giving up. You must use your opportunities and develop the natural abilities you've been blessed with. And, in the end, if you stay focused, you will find your happiness. Competitiveness is great. It drives us. But we can't let it cloud our vision, dirty our good nature. Eh, take it for what you will. This is just what I've come to live by through personal experience. We are all different. Find what works for you. All in all, I hope I can provoke some sort of thought through my work, as well as provide some sort of emotion. Not every person will like it, nor will every person appreciate it. But I'm okay with that. No ego or pride here....well, okay, as little as possible at least. :) Through my art, I give my all to the world. And that's the best I can do. Thanks for your time.

Fight 4 Your Life

Sooooo, my most recent creative project is a short film called Fight 4 Your Life, which was filmed at the end of last month (March) as part of the Sacramento 48 Hour Film Festival.  I used this festival as a means to get a lot of people together for a short amount of time to accomplish a rather large feat.  The big picture was always to extend the film well past the allotted 7 minute runtime restriction of the 48 hr festival, editing it into what the script truly called for.  My team and I were able to shoot 11 scenes in less than a day and a half.

Now, obviously, it was to be expected that the film wouldn’t be perfect.  When you’re shooting so much in such a short amount of time there is bound to be limitations and flaws.  But, overall, we were extremely successful in accomplishing the task of finishing the shoots, which were at multiple locations.  I created a tedious shooting schedule to allow for the most clear cut path as possible.  It seems it worked and I am so very proud of my cast and crew for getting ‘er done.

I now have a plethora of footage to edit into what will be the final film, which looks to be anywhere from 20 to 25 minutes in length at this time.  Of course, this is just an estimate as I’ll have to cut accordingly for the best possible film in the end.  My crew, actors and I are planning to re-shoot one of the scenes within the next couple of months.  This scene just lacked vigor, as well as shots in general.  At the time of its production, we were really pushed for time and just were not able to get what we wanted.

We are also going to be shooting an additional scene that I wanted in the film, but knew we weren’t going to have time to include in the initial shoots.  Add this re-shoot and new scene’s shoot to the massive amount of editing I have to do and my pot is full for this project.  At this time it is scheduled to have the final version of F4YL done by the end of July 2012 or the end of summer 2012 at the latest.   I will be organizing a large screening event for the premiere, which I may turn into a sort of small film festival.  Good times.

Currently, I’m working on editing the teaser trailer for F4YL.  As soon as it’s ready BE READY because I’ll be posting it everywhere.  Keep up to date on BryanBachar.com and my company site onestudios.net!   Also, be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!  You can also request to join the soon to be one studios mailing list, which will provide updates and newsletters for the one studios Universe.  This includes all one studios Family sites, including BryanBachar.com, WShiznik.com, Bach2Smooth.com and more!

Productive Social Media Sites

With so many different avenues for social opportunity on the net, it’s hard sometimes not to get caught up in the hype of various sites.  I recommend choosing the ones most beneficial to your cause.  Example: If you’re in it for the job market, #LinkedIn is a good bet.  #Facebook has become a good outlet for businesses (and everything else it seems 🙂 ).  #Twitter is great for just reaching out.  Other useful sites are #Tumblr for media showcasing, #MySpace for bands & filmmakers and #SoundCloud for getting your music heard.

Just Blabbin’ tha Thoughts

Trippin’? More like sippin’, occasionally dippin’ to tha big in tha sky, feelin’ as though my life is occasionally high.  Riiiiiight.  Truth be told, I don’t even remember what demons my past unfolds.   In the end all that matters is my spectacle glows.  But let it be, let it be, so say he.  When in question was it ever a consequence of WE?  Are you entertained?!!!  Are you entertained?!!!  Maaaan, demands makin’ my mind’s left brain dramatically drained.  Who’s to spit, that you can’t be what you yourself wish?  Excuse me while I have my cake and eat my dish. Wasting space on these thoughts is a case Ashanti’s foolish.  Don’t take the time.  Move forward and put tha ish on a funkin’ grocery list.  Save ’em for later.  Like, “Peaces.” Pieces come together to make a whole.  Not always the rough ridges of Reese’s.  Take a bite and you’ll get that smooth PB center as all the rest deceases.

Waking to Leave

It’s both amusing and peculiar in what dreams may come.

Scenarios of grandeur.

Illusions of the deepest desires.

All to leave at the opening of the eyes.

Only to wish your separation from this world, even if only for a sleepy night, would not end.

A journey away from what you know to be real.

A meeting with those you hold dear.

A chance to live a life not always possible…..

In what dreams may come.

Believe It. Do It.

You have to create your own opportunities in life.  Never expect and never count it until it’s in your pocket.  Words mean nothing to many.  To others, words are of great intent, but can’t always be met.  To few, words bind like blood.

Other people will be there along the way, to aid you, to hold you back.  But push yourself, because it’s yourself that’s going to get you through.  Be smart.  Be resourceful.  Be honest.  Be humble.  Be selfless.  Be positive.  Be firm.  Be wise.

Never stray from who you are, and who you want to be.  Never forget your past, and the people in it.  Have will.  Have conscience.  Have confidence.  Have strength.  Have heart.  Have open mind.  Have understanding.  Have love.  You will rise.

But rising is nothing if you do not hold true….to you.

UC Davis Protest Incident – 11.18.2011

As an alum, I’ve been keeping up on the incident that occurred at UC Davis this past week.  I see both sides, but feel the ending actions of the Campus PD were over-dramatic and not needed.  This event brings to mind concerns of how the UC Davis administration will handle future protests and other happenings of the same caliber.

The UC Davis Chancellor, Linda P.B. Katehi, sent out a statement condemning the Campus PD officers’ actions, even informing everyone that the 2 officers that issued the pepper spray have been put on administrative leave.  She has promised to begin a thorough investigation.  But, once again, this remains an incident that could have been avoided.

Hmmm….what do you think?  Were the students/protesters in the wrong for staying when told to leave?  Or was the UC Davis Campus PD over-ambitious with their power, displaying reckless actions and an absolute recognition that they are not properly prepared/trained for incidents such at this?

We have to have reasonable cause for protesting.  Although it is personal opinion to consider any cause worth protesting for, one must truly think about his/her actions before, while and after they demonstrate.  Perhaps, the smarter action here would have been to listen to the UC Davis administration and then return after the weekend, then carrying on the protest in a the peaceful manner which was intended.

This isn’t to say the protesters were not peaceful.  But they most definitely provoked the harm that came to them.  Was the harm valid?  Most definitely not.  Again, the cops over-reacted.  Period.

We have to be smart in our decisions as people.  I’m all for giving everything to a cause worth giving everything to.  But the question here is was this cause worth the outcome, right or not?  This is the debate that I’m throwing back and forth in my mind.  Was this cause of these protesters really worth putting themselves in the way of the harm that came to them?  The cops were wrong.  But were the protesters wrong for provoking the cops to begin with when they could have went about things differently, possibly even solidifying a more successful outcome?

Now it just seems like another unacceptable occurrence of abuse of power with the true intent of the protest being washed away amid the media’s pouncing and meticulously chosen pin-pointing.  The reasons of the protesters really won’t even be validated.  All that will likely be remembered here is the violence.  Is that what was wanted?

I could think about it for days.  Let’s just hope everyone learns from their mistakes.

With fight comes change.  But that change isn’t always what was desired….or even good for that matter.

Go Campus PD….NOT!
